Seven years on, the last open question of the federal investigation was answered. On August 21, 2008, NIST released its final report on World Trade Center Building 7, the 47-story tower that collapsed late on the afternoon of September 11th. This short video from NIST explains the conclusion: uncontrolled fires that burned for hours led to the first known collapse of a tall building caused primarily by fire.
