I have a small Orange RSS symbol towards the top right of every page on my website. What’s it for?

Put simply it is an RSS feed, a file that contains the latest updates from a website.

Most every website offers these RSS feeds and soon it will be the normal way to get updates from websites.

  • RSS (an abbreviation for Really Simple Syndication) is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format.  wikipedia.

Why would I want to use RSS Feeds?

When subscribing to an RSS feed, websites will now send their updates automatically and freely to you, rather than you having to visit each site. So you can collect all the information you like reading in one place.

You can set your RSS reader to tell you when a new article appears on any of the sites you are following!

But don’t just take it from me. Watch the short video that will walk you through the RSS process:

Lesson 1 Summary: Subscribing to the RSS feed of any website is easy. Just click on the RSS icon. The next lesson will go over how to manage those subscriptions.
