Someone once told me, “You Only Have So Many Summers in Your Life So Enjoy Them”.
For me that small phrase really hit close to home so I left the blog behind for a little while because my summer was going fantastically well. I noticed many other bloggers had also slowed down the postings to their own blogs, hopefully to enjoy the summer. A few of the blogs I follow actually did pick up the pace when it came to posting and I hope those individuals were inspired to keep blogging over the summer because they had great topics to write about as opposed to they had nothing better to do.
So yes, I stopped documenting wireless hot-spots for a bit despite the fact I found a few beach spots that made interesting blog topics, I didn’t pull out the laptop nearly as much as I had during the winter and I focused some of my time and energy on expanding my interests as well as exploring New York City, the greatest city in the world right in my own backyard.
I kept the camera with me as best as I could with many of the pictures being posted to my Flickr account and although I haven’t blogged the Met’s in a few weeks I followed them as best I could on twitter. I setup a new Facebook page, which is hardly ever used but doesn’t have nearly as much information about me as the old one. Just the same I have set the privacy settings pretty high and I’m waiting for the day facebook actually goes public to see how many facebook users like myself tried to leave the service for good.
But now as summer is winding down it’s time to get to work. The economy is still a mess. I have a feeling there will be plenty of volunteering work to do with the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs this coming tax season and I have my own career to get back on track.
Not to mention I took running a little more seriously this summer and actually ran a few 5K’s as well as a 10K and would like to keep that up over the winter. Did you know that the fees you pay to register for a race usually go to charity? Not only are you keeping yourself fit but it’s for a good cause! That’s a topic for another day.
So I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming fall season and school year. You can spend it in front of the TV watching the new fall TV shows or you can get out and enjoy the last remaining few weeks of good weather before the holidays come around. The year just seems to be going too fast!
