Yes, I know… Steve Jobs announcing he’s stepping down from running Apple is old news but I am a little sad. The end of an era is here and the man, who changed many lives and developed the tools that many people would use to change the world, is finally stepping down at the height of his career. I wish him the best.
I Switched to MAC Products Because of the iPhone
I, myself, used Microsoft products my whole life until about 2008, when I got my first iPhone. I remember having that little gadget in my hands and literally seeing the future. I had already been using twitter from my old Blackberry but the iPhone took twitter use to the next level. Now I was getting tweets that had links to video’s. YouTuber’s were using the service like I had never seen before. It was almost like video email.
I Became a Blogger because of the iPhone
My tweeting became more organized and so much easier to do with this new tool called the iPhone. I developed a network and started following so many blogs of some very interesting people. All these bloggers had one thing in common, they used a platform called WordPress.
Now I’m converting my old website into a WordPress blog and blogging away but what was my topic? What were my interests? I finally found my voice on the blog and settled on blogging tech, specifically the iPhone.
But the iPhone never did work well with my Microsoft machines and if I wanted to play around with YouTube more I needed more powerful video editing software. Hence the purchase of my new MAC back in 2009.
I Wish I had a MAC When I was Younger
I fell in love with my MAC almost immediately. How I wish I could have had one in my childhood. I was now teaching myself how to blog, code in CSS using WordPress, develop plugins and even some app development all on the MAC but if I had, had a MAC when younger the possibilities are endless.
I could have taught myself how to play a musical instrument using garageband. Heck, I’m still considering it. I definitely would have been a video blogger in High School and would have joined up with some of the many entrepreneurs here in NYC in developing a revolutionary app like a Foursquare or Tumblr.
Most of your Social Media Tools Were Made on MACS
Steve Jobs was a game changer. He revolutionized the computing industry and inspired a generation to create tools that will change the world. All the social media tools we use today were mostly made on MACS. These same tools that are overthrowing dictators in the middle east and allowing us to share our thoughts and get to know each other were probably made by MAC users.
So, sadly we will have to say goodbye to Steve Jobs, the leader of one of the greatest companies in history that created the most fascinating products ever. He will be missed.
