Pretty sure I made this first variation of the site in Microsoft’s Frontpage, a long gone program that was used for early web design. All the images are gone since they were being pulled from other sites.
The link to the Wayback machine for this early site is here… https://web.archive.org/web/*/daviddaniels.com
What follows is a true representation of the site in all its glory 25 years ago! It’s a great piece of internet archaeology — the classic late-90s/early-2000s personal site: black background, neon green, purple banner, Comic-Sans-adjacent serif logo, broken images (the ? placeholders), Web vs. site search dropdown, and a LinkExchange FastCounter. Pure 2001 energy. I kinda miss those days when getting on the internet was exciting!
A loving recreation of the original page, with the broken images restored: a banner ad in the style of 2001, a Golden Gate Bridge photo from my own SF trip that year, and the FastCounter graphic.
