My Labor Day weekend project… a fix of my 2015 MacBook which needed a new battery desperately and the replacement of two blown speakers. Total cost for the parts was $150 from iFixit.com. I am sure Apple could get the parts even cheaper.
On my last trip to Apple, the “Genius’s” wanted almost $600 to fix my trusty old buddy but they suggested if I was going to pay for the fix I may as well upgrade to a new one starting at $1200 minus $150 for the trade in. Did you catch that?
I expect to get another 2-3 years out of this investment. It was a simple fix and I saved myself over $1000 by not taking the Apple “Genius” suggestions.
Listen to the trade in, that is what the parts cost. Then do it yourself and save a ton of money. You are now a Genius too!
