I miss the 80’s. Some of the sleeper hits were actually deep. Like this one from 1985: The Artist is Gowan, Song Title is “Strange Animal”.

Note the very last line where the announcer states: “Man: You’re The Strangest Animal.”  We are indeed because we are not of this world.

On the eve of his crucifixion, Jesus prays to his Father in John 17:14–16,

I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Strange Animal Lyrics about Man

You’re a strange animal
That’s what I know
But you’re a strange animal
I got to follow
O ominus spiritus (Latin Meaning: quick is the decent to hell )

Oh, you’re a strange animal
That’s what I know
But you’re a strange animal
I got to follow

80’s music with a latin phrase warning us that following man is a quick decent to hell. Catchy tune, interesting take on the meaning.
