Here I am, spending a little time on a lazy weekend in Roosevelt Field Mall. It’s early in the morning and there are few shoppers around so I decide to check out the WiFi Capabilities of the Mall.
Sometimes I do it from my iPhone but this time I pulled out my notebook. I did not speedtest any of the hotspots as I am running behind a VPN and that always skews the results but the Mall has come very far in the last few years so here goes my review:
- Simon Mall Hotspots – There are at least 4 of them, most are located in front of the large anchor stores who already have hotspots. This may be for Gap coverage. The Simon Mall Hotspots do not reach inside the Anchor Stores.
- Nordstrom Hotspot – I was able to sign onto this free hotspot no problem. This was the main Hotspot I used. My VPN also connected effortlessly.
- Sephora Free Wifi – I was able to sign onto this Hotspot but I was not able to connect to my VPN. These are hotspots I avoid.
- Macy’s Free Wifi – at the time I could not connect to this hotspot. But there were plenty of others to choose from. Of course, if you are in Macy’s this may be the only hotspot you can connect to.
There were at least 24 hotspots that were coming up on as active but only 6 of them were open to the public. There were also 2 devices you could connect to which I never recommend unless you know the person.
