Shuttle Rollout

OK, so I have a little bit of Trekkie in me but I’ve always enjoyed the more boring aspects of the Space Shuttle, like how do they position the Shuttle onto the launchpad? The? 7 hour, 3.4-mile trip began at 6:38 a.m. and was completed at 1:31 p.m. That’s about 1/2 mile an hr. Hmmm…

“Space shuttle Atlantis was moved Oct. 13 from the Vehicle Assembly Building to Launch Pad 39A at NASAs Kennedy Space Center in Florida for its STS-129 mission to the International Space Station. The move is referred to as “rollout.” Atlantis is targeted to launch Nov. 12. During its 11-day mission, the shuttles six astronauts will deliver supplies, spare parts and research material to the space station. For more info: www.nasa.gov/shuttle
