TED Talks: How Twitter Can Make History

It’s been a while since I have posted a talk from one of my favorite websites. Here the talk is about twitter and how twitter allows us to communicate directly with our government and each other. Social Media technology is removing barriers to communicating and is preventing countries from developing propaganda campaigns. It’s also keeping our news outlets honest and even competing with them directly. Very interesting presentation and something I wanted to share.

About this talk

While news from Iran streams to the world, Clay Shirky shows how Facebook, Twitter and TXTs help citizens in repressive regimes to report on real news, bypassing censors (however briefly). The end of top-down control of news is changing the nature of politics.

I will be blogging soon about my reaction to Michael Jackson’s sudden death as he was the biggest artist of my time and I was lucky enough to grow up when he was a living legend. Thanks for the blog Idea.
