I know there are a lot of choices out there when it comes to blogging software but today I’m testing out Windows Live Writer for this blog as opposed to the online WordPress dashboard. “Download here”

windows-live-writer The first thing I noticed was the Windows Live Writer looks and feels like a traditional Microsoft Office program and is very similar to Microsoft Word. Even though you “could” use Word for blogging, Live Writer goes a step further and functions as a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. You can preview your posting at any time without having to go back to your original blog site unlike the WordPress dashboard.

I especially love the plugins that are available from the Windows Live extensions gallery. So far I have installed about half a dozen.

Here are two I downloaded that I used in this posting:

Bullets Plug-in WLWvery nice plug-in allowing your to insert more than just the standard black dot as a bullet. I have used an example.

Tag Generator Plug-inLove this one as I am lazy when it comes to generating tags but I’m just going to leave the tagging alone as it clutters up the postings as you can see.

There are dozens more at the Windows Live Plug-ins website and more being developed by third parties every day. I’m sure the list will continue to grow.

So I’m going to use it for a while. It’s seems very user friendly as opposed to the WordPress dashboard. You think?
