  • YouTube – the biggest video sharing site on the planet
  • TeacherTube – YouTube for Teachers
  • Vimeo – I find this is mostly for artists displaying their talents
  • Funny or Die – looking for a good laugh? This is a great site to check out.
  • WhiteHouse.gov – obviously all about the White House Agenda. Very informative but just a tad biased.
  • Rocketboom.com – Rocketboom is a daily international news program based in New York City.
  • The Daily Show with Jon Stewart – Watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central featuring current events & pop culture news. See Videos Clips, Read Articles & more.
  • Clip Syndicate – the leading video syndication platform to search, choose and embed the best video news content online.

NewsBlogs:

  • Huffington Post – Offers syndicated columnists, blogs and news stories with moderated comments. Ok, I have to admit there are no other newsblogs I am following. Send me links to NewsBlogs worthy of getting mentioned here.
  • DavidDaniels.com – gotcha! ;)

Tech Blogs:

  • ZDNet – mostly for IT professionals. Lots of great timely information.
  • GoogleBlog – a blog all about Google. Very interesting as this is a very innovative company.
  • theAppleBlog – I can’t afford apple products (except for my $99 iPhone) but I read the blog anyway.
  • Official Gmail Blog – all about Gmail and how to get the most out of the most powerful email program on the planet!
  • TechCrunch – a very techy blog covering new internet products and companies.
  • GrownUpDigital.com – How the net generation is changing your world.
  • Pew Internet –  Pew Internet and American Life Project.

Education:

  • NASA.gov – Here’s a site you or your kids could get lost in for a long time. There is so much information here!
  • Publication 970 – IRS Guide for Employers Providing Tuition Reimbursement Benefits
  • FAFSA – Free Application for federal Student Aid
  • TAP – NYS Tuition Assistance Program
  • CollegeBoard.com – Lots of College Planning Help
  • New America Foundation – The New America Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that invests in new thinkers and new ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States.
  • Pew Research Center – The Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan “fact tank” that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world.

Math Help:

  • Jefferson Math Project – (JMAP) is a nonprofit initiative offering New York teachers free resources that simplify the integration of Regents exam questions into their curriculum.
  • PurpleMath – Helping students gain understanding and self-confidence in algebra
  • The Statistics Homepage – Elementary Concepts in Statistics

Government Websites:

  • U.S. House of Representatives
  • OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration – every regulation you could possibly need is here
  • Nassau County –  I personally use this as a Nassau County Resident.
  • NY.gov – all NY’ers should be familiar with this link as this is another repository of helpful information.
  • U.S. Census Bureau – stats, stats and more stats!
  • Federal Reserve – the central bank of the United States. Lots of information!
  • Library of Congress – this is the research arm of Congress. Excellent tool for the advanced student.
  • Office of the Clerk – acts as custodian of all noncurrent records of the House, pursuant to Rule VII. This includes all information on lobbying. ;)


International Sites:

  • Carnegie Endowment for International Peace – a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations
  • EIU.com – the world leader in global business intelligence
  • IMF.org – International Monetary Fund
  • Worldbank.org – the sites mission is working towards a world with no poverty
  • WTO.org – the World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.

Other:

  • Ted Talks – the mission of the site is to spread ideas and some of the presentations really make you think.
  • ComputerHistory.org – where computer history lives. You might find your first computer here.

Healthcare reform:

  • The Obama Plan – Stability and Security for all Americans
  • Health Care For America Now – Quality, affordable health care that works for us, not the insurance industry. 
  • HealthReform.gov – Official US government site provides ongoing news and information about health care reform. Includes factchecking, videos, reports, forums and newsroom.
