Chinese Media and Why Marketers Can’t Ignore Them

Digital Marketers just can’t stick to Social Media when trying to reach multiple demographics, they also have to know who to target and how on other social media networks. In my neck of the woods, the NY Tri-State area, the Chinese market is huge! ¬†Chinese Demographics in NY rival even the Hispanic demographic in growth over the last 10 years. If you don’t recall, the Chinese own over half the apartments in Manhattan.

Revisit the Old Marketing Strategies

Most business’s in my area have made it a practice to target the Hamptons or even the North Shore, Gold Coast of Long Island because that is where the perceived money is but demographics have changed dramatically over the last 10 years and your marketing strategy should change with it.

Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

My new strategy has been to incorporate as many other markets into my digital campaigns as possible. Best not to put all your eggs in one basket and spread around your digital campaigns. Sometimes you have to get into other established networks so you can get your own network discovered.

Don’t ignore these other markets, especially if you do business in the NY area. If you do decide to go after these markets, learning the culture is a must. It can also be fun! Yes, I am enjoying engaging the Asian and Hispanic communities along with the demographics I have traditionally engaged.
