Macy’s Parade 2009

I usually go to the Macy’s Parade if the weather cooperates. This year the weather was pretty good and considering the economy, the parade is a great bargain. For me it’s the price of a train ticket and a coffee.

This year it was 3 close friends and a Starbucks Gingerbread Latte (Free Plug!) as my early morning company. We got to Penn Station around 6am and walked a few blocks down to Bryant Park. From here we got an excellent view.

So I posted a few pics for my flickr account, the vast majority are still on my computer for my personal enjoyment. I got tons of video which I haven’t been able to upload yet.  Since I upgraded to Windows 7 my editing software is giving me problems. For the opening video I used Animoto.com. A one year subscription is $30. I choose to just do this one video for $3. A bargain to just test out the service. It’s actually pretty good although I could not find any appropriate background music in my files or in their’s to use. I might use it again.

The pictures are all from the corner of 34th and 5th in front of Bryant Park. You’ll notice there are no Street lights or Lampposts blocking the view. These are all taken down around 6am so the balloons can get through and no one gets hurt. If you ever plan on coming in to the city to see the parade, my advice is to only come for the balloons and get there early for the best spots. 6am, hint, hint. ;) If you enjoy the bands and all the other little acts then I suggest staying home and watching on TV.

Happy Holidays to all!

Nice! The pictures came out excellent and the animoto service I have never heard of. How you manage to find these tools I’ll never know.
