Just in time for President Obama’s big Speech at the U.N. today about Global Warming, the premiere of possibly the first movie to be distributed worldwide without the help or financing of any major movie studio and it happens to be on Global Warming.
The Age of Stupid is not only a film about global warming but could represent the future of film making. Will major movie studios be needed in the future? Will this movie successfully open the eyes of the right people to effect major change?
There has been some press on this film but not so much as I had to hear about the release through another blogger, so I’m figuring many people have yet to hear of this film. The “Age of Stupid” has not been pushed by any of the major news networks with the exception of my personal favorite blog, The Huffington Post, where you’ll find the article here:
The HuffPost article states:
We are on the verge of a new dawn, where fans support the films they want to see and where those films can create a worldwide theatrical release without studio support.
YouTube Trailer:
The Age of Stupid is a 90-minute film about climate change, set in the future. Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite (In The Name of the Father, Brassed Off) stars as a man living alone in the devasted world of 2055, looking back at footage from 2007 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?
You can also follow the “Age of Stupid” on twitter at twitter.com/ageofstupid.
Bottom Line: Releasing this film on the same day as President Obama’s Global Warming speech to the U.N. is great free press. Good thinking!
