I Took a quick trip to Albany NY this week. it was only a 2 day business trip but I was able to get out and get some decent pictures. Compared to NY and even Long Island, Albany is a very sleepy little town. The international airport is almost as small as some of the executive airports on Long Island. This is a 1 of a 12 set photoset.
Of course I got some video too:
At the time of shooting this video, the Senate was in the midst of a political coup where the Republicans had taken over the Senate from the Democrats with some Democrats switching parties to accomplish this, hence there were a lot of news vans in front of the Capital. Since I’m not a reporter and I was just acting as a tourist, I then went across the street to the “Empire State Plaza” for a panoramic shot.
I’m not sure why the plaza was practically dead between 4:30 and 5:30pm when I shot the video, but I have to assume that Albany is just another small town compared to NYC. The buildings in the plaza are actually part of the tallest buildings in the Albany skyline. I’ve visited Albany on weekends where the downtown area is absolutely desolate. This was my first visit in the middle of the week during business hours.
Albany is the oldest surviving European settlement from the original Thirteen Colonies. I don’t want to turn my site into a wikipedia page but there is a lot of information and pictures here at the Albany Wikipedia page.
So if you watch the video, save some money and don’t make the trip. Not much going on here in Albany. There is definitely more going on in Farmingdale and next I would like to get some shots of the U.S. Open right here in Bethpage. OK, thanks for visiting and till next time…
